Wendy Kawabatae
Kawabata received their MFA from the University of New Mexico and they are currently a professor at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. They received the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and have presented their work nationally and internationally. Their work has appeared in Art in America, Modern Painters, and the New Yorker.
"These paintings are a product of my research into the historical development of color, light, and the contingent space of painting. The paintings serve as trail markers for and personifications of the painter's process through abstraction; the artwork is a vessel for the studio's lessons."
