Born in 1970 in Germany, Ute came to the US in 1998. She holds a degree in painting from the Minneapolis College of Art. Notable exhibitions include the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh, Scotland; Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis, MN and the Rochester Art Center in Rochester, MN.
In my work I explore the reluctant relationship between abstraction and language, between what is stated and what is left unsaid. The goal of my intuitive process of continuous change is to make the work foreign, so that the possibility of immediate comprehension dissolves and meaning needs to be reimagined.
