Fran Shalom is an abstract painter with a pop sensibility. Her work balances the formal with the playful, paring down shapes and ideas into their most basic forms. She received a BA from University of California at Berkeley and an MFA from San Francisco Art Institute and Montclair State University. She also studied at the New York Studio School. In 2003, Fran was given an Aljira Fellowship and was chosen for an Art Omi Residency. She was awarded the NJ Council on the Arts Fellowship Grant in 2005. Her work was included in the New American Painting Northeast edition in 2007 and is in the collections of the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris, Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Rose Art Museum in Ma. among others. Fran is represented by the John Davis Gallery in Hudson, NY.
