“My process starts with drawings and builds to larger works in oil, flashe or watercolor. Recent paintings focus on society's relationship to institutions, like the court, museum, or school. Tension between figures and imposing architecture suggests instability within bedrock institutions. The paintings hover between formal play and an underlying anxiety.”
